Diwali is the time to let your hair loose and have fun. Cleaning your homes, meeting friends and family, gorging on sweets, bathing your house in lights, it’s all part of the fun and frolic around the festive season! But the part we love most about Diwali, (and basically any festival) is dressing up! Be it for office parties, for casual family dinners, and the event of the year in your city, getting all decked up is always exciting. However, it’s not always easy on your pocket. Plus, what will you do with the heavy saarees and lehenga cholis after Diwali? After a few Instagram uploads, everything goes straight up to the attic. So, this year, let me show you a few options which are not only drool worthy and totally glam, but also affordable and re-wearable. Let’s take a look at some of the best Diwali looks!

The Indo Western Look:

Fusion wear is big this season, and you can never go wrong with a little western and lots of Indian at any soiree. A- Line kurtis, crop tops with printed skirts, boxy wedge heels and silver jewellery are the best picks for any party and will make you stand out from the crowd. Here are some fabulous options from FabAlley, all under Rs. 4500.
Look 1

  • Pairing solid kurtis, with a printed palazzo, simple heels and drop earrings for an elegant and statement look.
  • Winter is here. Says who??? With temperatures as high as 35 degrees even in October, shine in this off shoulder kurti and straight pants with shoulder length earrings.
  • Replace your kurti, with a block colour flowy top, preferably in sheer to get that movie star look.
  • A gold well fitted crop top, with a brown embroidered skirt, spells festive and compliments our Indian skin tone!
  • An asymmetrical long top over leggings or pants with chunky jewellery will make your frame look slimmer and add inches to your height.
  • Pair the above styles with a bling clutch, matching heels, and funky jewellery.

The Bohemian Indie Look:

Boho-Chic, is fast becoming one of the favourite styles of girls in India. The style is not only extremely comfortable, but is perfect for almost all occasions. Mixing Indian prints and motifs with easy and sleek silhouettes, the bohemian trend is ruling hearts in India.
Look 2

  • Pair a simple sleek 3/4th sleeve blouse with a light printed linen or cotton saaree, silver jhumkas, wedge heels for an ultra chic look.
  • Floor length solid color kurti with a printed shrug, jacket or scarf, with flat sandals for an understated festive look.

The Office Party Look:

Dressing up for an office party is always a dilemma as you can’t deck up too much and end up looking like you are going to a wedding, nor can you turn up in jeans and feel under dressed. A line kurtis with dressy palazzos and sequined bellies, innovatively draped sarees, geometric prints, subtle colours, are some good choices for an office pooja and will definitely earn you some brownie points with your colleagues and boss.
Look 3

  • Double slit white kurti with straight pants, or flowy palazzos with embroidered or crepe dupatta is an intelligent option and will keep you comfortable throughout the day for work as well.
  • Simple printed sarees, innovatively draped with a white crop top blouse, white block heels and hoop earrings are also a good option and will fit in your budget.

The Family Diva Look:

Want to wow everyone at a family function? Go for embroidered skirts, shirt blouses with statement neck pieces, studded lehengas and cold shoulder cholis. Centre slit kurtis with skirts, or sheer blouses, printed lehengas and netted dupattas will also give a glam look.
Look 4

  • Umbrella sleeve sheer jacket over a blouse and a colorful lehenga with heels and hair in a traditional bun will make for a beautiful avatar.
  • Wear your dupatta in different styles to get rid of the monotony.
  • Add silver chokers or stone studded necklaces over a shirt blouse for a diva look.
  • Full sleeve floor length anarkalis with kundan earrings and a flashy dupatta is also a great pick.

Look 5

  • For an ultimate style statement, ditch the dupatta, and wear a midriff baring crop top with solid color lehenga and a maang tika.
  • Try colors like blue, grey, bright pink, black and silver to stand out in any party.
  • Chose lehengas or skirts with a good diameter for that beautiful twirl and to look taller.

All these looks have been curated from sites such as FabAlley, Ajio, Cilory, Craftsvilla, Meena Bazaar and Ninecolors. All these dresses are available in the range of Rs. 2000 – Rs. 8000. Mix and match pieces that you already own, like heels or jewellery to save money.
